Meaghan’s hockey career got serious when she was asked to play forward with St.Albert’s AAA Adam Boys team. Meaghan is among several athletic greats hailing from St.Albert, Alberta; and to name a few included within this esteemed group are; Mark Messier, Mike Comrie, Jarome Iginla, Cross Country Skiier Amanda Ammar and Cathy King the Curler .
St. Albert is a great place to live especially for those participating in winter sports. This small Alberta city is a flagship for athletics and is a proud supporter of Canadian sports.
Meaghan’s family is well equipped to take on the hockey challenge given the fact that Meaghan’s father Bill played four seasons in the NHL , her great-uncle Jim McFadden played in the NHL winning the 1952 Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings and Meaghan’s brother Brendan (19) was drafted 31st overall by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 2005.
Currently Meaghan is a member of the Canadian National Women’s Hockey Program and is 1 of 26 players currently centralized in Calgary trying out for the 2010 Olympic Team. Previously Meaghan played in the Under-22 Team, Oval XTreme Womens Hockey team for the World Championship Team in 2008, 2009. Meaghan says she is living her dream and at the height of her career. The cherry on top would be to capture the gold at the 2010 Olympic Female Hockey Games.

Among Meaghan’s many skills is her ability to switch positions from forward to defense. This rare talent was noticed several years ago by her coaches. Currently in the National team she conquers the challenge of a defense position.
Meaghan has received many awards and honors, and most admirably; She Pays It Forward. She often speaks to children, sharing her stories and inspiring them with her incredible dedication to the pursuit for personal excellence. Meaghan says “take care of your body, eat well and stay active no matter what”
Inevitably we all have bad days, and Meaghan is not immune.. Meaghan, says that she can call her parents anytime and they help her get things back into perspective. Her mom’s favorite response to Meaghan is ‘Never, never, never give up”. It looks like Meaghan listened to her mom.
